38. Education/Knowledge

Existing/Online: To experience ongoing learning as a means of gaining new facts, truths and principles, motivated by the occasional reward of a new understanding gained through intuitive insight.

Proposed: Education/Knowledge
To seek ongoing learning to gain new facts, truths, principles and insights.

Rationale: Simpler; no need to have the world "insight" in the label. This is a Goal Value in the New Order Cluster supporting many of the Goal Values in the same cluster such as Knowledge/Discovery/Insight, Construction/New Order and Being Self. This value has an ordering function in this cluster as does Education/Certification in the Institutional Cluster.

Label change: Education/Knowledge/Insight to Education/Knowledge

Final: Engaging in ongoing learning to gain new facts, truths, principles and insights.

2020

Engaging in ongoing learning to gain new facts, truths, principles and insights.

  1. This I find much better than the original, clients talk about a wide range of motivations for prioritising this value and do not always connect with the "occasional reward" aspect of the original

for me seek has a different connotation than experience

  3. I like the improved descriptor and my comments re seek vs experience are that when one seeks, they are actively engaged in acquiring the value. When one experiences, it is possible the activity is more passive in that education/knowledge is presented to them and they value the experience rather than search for the experience.

    Subtle, I know...
