ReplyDeleteWould suggest removing the reference to language and cultures - I cannot find any definition or reference to biodiversity (either academic or poplar) that includes these as part of the definition or broader concept of biodiversity. There is a wide body of work that links high biodiversity to high language and/or cultural diversity (and vice versa) in terms of apparent causation, but these studies all treat biodiversity and cultural / language diversity as separate entities that act upon each other... Could re-working Unity / Diversity (to make in less specific to organisations and so more encompassing) address this issue / concern? Draft new descriptor - Advocacy for the preservation of diversity in ecosystems, plant and animal life on this planet - recognizing that ecosystem diversity is often included in biodiversity in current discourse on this issue?
