Proposed: Community/Individual (change name of Value)
Commitment to a group and its purpose in order to simultaneously maximize both individual independent action and interdependent cooperation.
Rationale: Simpler. I think that "independent action" is more generally applicable here than "creativity."
New Label: Collaborative Individualism Old Label: Community/Personalist
Final: Collaborative Individualist. Commitment to a group and its purpose in order to simultaneously maximize both individual independent action and interdependent cooperation.
2020
To be committed to a cause or purpose through an approach which optimizes both independent individual and collaborative teamwork.
As it is, this value seems most like collaboration. Perhaps collaboration should state "goal" instead of purpose.
ReplyDeleteRather than say what the purpose of the value is, how about...
Commitment to a group & its purpose in a way that simultaneously maximizes independent action and collective cooperation .
ps I agree personalist might need some help, but I am not sure if individual does it justice???
ReplyDeleteI am wondering why we have to have two separate community values because the qualities seem the same...ie recognizing the individual and fostering the collective...maximizing synergy support & expansion.
Suggestion:
ReplyDeleteto maximize both individual, independent action and interdependent cooperation, within a group bound by a shared purpose.
rationale:
'to maximize both individual, independent action and interdependent cooperation,' seems to be the essence of the value, 'within a group bound by a shared purpose.' seems to be the context for it. interdependent cooperation has for me, a different meaning than collective cooperation. i associate collective with a sense of congregation/ aggregation/ all as one and interdependent with a sense of being individual while having mutual dependency / reliance on one another/ all as many.
Collaborative/Individualist: Commitment to a group and its purpose in order to simultaneously maximize both individual independent action and interdependent cooperation.
